COMPETITION

Thanks to various partners, among which Air Mauritius and MTPA, The Standard Bank Mauritius Open is slowly growing into one of the major international golf events in the island. After two successful editions on the West Coast, the organising committee has decided to move the competition to the east coast at Le Touessrok Golf Course on Ile aux Cerfs.

Foreign players and international Pros will be accommodated at Long Beach. The Tournament Director is Nicolas B. De Chalain, General Manager of Long Beach and former Captain of the Mauritian Amateur Golf Team. The Technical Director is Russell Hannah, PGA PRO, former Golf Operations Manager at Turnberry, and General Manager of Le Touessrok Golf Course.

This year, the organising committee of The Standard Bank Mauritius Open has also decided to arrange the event into two tournaments.

The first one will be an amateurs-driven event: the Long Beach / Air Mauritius Pro-Am where amateur players will have the opportunity to play with international professional players on Tuesday 13 and Wednesday 14 December 2011. The format of the Long Beach / Air Mauritius Pro-Am will be over 2 days, with 3 Amateurs and 1 Pro (same team over 2 days). Scoring will be in Stableford – ¾ handicap, 4 ball alliance with 2 best scores to count.

The second one, The Standard Bank Mauritius Open 2011 will happen on two days, on Thursday 15 and Friday 16 December 2011 with 3 different series : professionals, amateurs with handicaps from 0 – 9 and amateurs with handicaps from 10 to 24. Professionals will play in Individual Stroke play and Amateurs in Individual Stableford.
